The 2009 AGM was held on August 19th at the North American Championship in San Francisco, CA. Please find minutes for the meeting are below.
1. Andrew Buttner brought the meeting to order at 18:45
2. Officer's Reports
a. Andrew Buttner delivered the President’s report
b. Jeff Nelson delivered the Vice President's report
c. Macy Nelson delivered the Secretary / Treasurer report
d. Michael Renda delivered the Information Officer’s report
e. Andrew Buttner delivered the Region One report
f. Andrew Buttner delivered the Region Two report
g. Stephen Long delivered the Region Three report
h. Paul Von Grey delivered the Region Five report
3. Election of Officers
a. Vice President = Aaron Ross
b. Secretary-Treasurer = Macy Nelson
c. National Measurer = Mike Holt
4. 2010 North American Championship
a. delivered by Stephen Long
b. question asked about date preference, wed-sat or thurs-sun
c. membership voted for thurs-sun
d. date set for June 24-27 2009
5. 2011 North American Championship
a. proposal submitted by American YC in Rye, NY
b. tentative dates are Oct 13-16, 2011
c. membership voted to accept American YC's proposal
6. 2013 Worlds Bid Discussion
a. time to make a bid is fast approaching
b. Kingston is probably out as Jeff Boyd is not interested
c. Miami has been talked about but no proposal/progress has been made
d. Buzzards Bay is still an option but would require the class to hire someone to run
e. Ethan Bixby said St. Pete is still an option is the class desires
f. discussion about Hawaii and Bermuda possibilities
g. work will continue on this front
7. New Business
a. shipping subsidy for north americans
i. current subsidy is $2000 for the opposite coast
ii. agreement that subsidy would be skipped for 2009 due to subsidy from st francis
iii. for Chicago 2010 only, $2000 will be given to west coast and $1000 to east coast
iv. 2011 will revert back to current subsidy plan of $2000 for opposite coast
b. web site
i. discussion about leveraging the international site
ii. Mike Renda will explore this option
c. us sailing matching grant
i. Andrew Buttner presented a idea of asking US Sailing for a matching grant to help a new member buy a boat. The class would contribute and US Sailing would match. Is this an idea to pursue?
ii. only for the right person
iii. what about helping an existing member?
iv. overall luke warm support, more exploring of the idea will be done
